More Nature

Canon 5d Mark II, 1/80 sec, f/11, ISO 200, 50mm

I'm indebted to Ron Jude for this idea. These are some more photos from my larger project looking at nature in a suburban setting. These scenes compose one part of the project, and is exploring the overgrown and sort of untamed areas that exist between the housing developments and between the businesses. They exist in valleys, on steep inclines, near bodies of water, etc., and are therefore impractical for developement but still exist in the heart of cities.

Tony Hawk at Cosmopolitan Park, Columbia, MO (10/17/09)

This was the first stop on Tony Hawk's Birdhouse demo tour where they only used Twitter as a promotional tool.

This is one of the first times I've ever shot skateboarding, and the first (and maybe last time) I use Olympus equipment. Letting the camera body have so much of the controls delays the time between pressing the shutter and the sensor bring exposed, making it less than ideal for sports and resulting in a lot of missed moments. I also didn't have a long enough lens for the vert demo, so my shots are on the street course.

Still, it was a fun time I finally decided to at least show these as opposed to letting them rot in my harddrive.

Rhymesayers at Mojo's (4/28) - Brother Ali

Brother Ali is a fat, albino, Muslim hip-hop mc from Minnesota. He is intense and powerful with his approach and is a one-of-a-kind act. (These photos are all rendered in black & white due to the ugly stage lights at Mojo's).

Rhymesayers at Mojo's (4/28) - Fashawn

Fashawn is one of the great upcoming mc's in hip-hop. He's 21 and has already proved himself (to me at least) to be one of the most skilled hip-hop artists now. He's fast but smooth. He says so much but is so easy to hear.

Rhymesayers at Mojo's (4/28) - Steady P

Steady P is a local (Missouri) mc whom I've seen twice now. His style is direct, simple and intense. He's a great throwback to the great hip-hop of the late 80s and early 90s.
